BFF to distribute Iftar from tomorrow

Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) will distribute iftar to the working-class people from Saturday on the occasion of Holy Ramadan, BFF general secretary Abu Nayeem Sohug told the matter in a video statement on Friday.
“The working-class people in the Motijheel area became helpless at the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak. So, BFF has provided foods to 300 distressed people daily. But due to Holy Ramadan, now the Iftar will be distributed to them before 5:30 pm,” he said.

“We used to feed 300 people daily but the number is increasing day by day. So, the amount will be increased,” he also said, adding: “The Iftar will be given throughout Ramadan. Many in Bangladesh football have extended their helping hands to the initiative of BFF. National team coach Jamie Day, assistant coach Stuart Watkiss and other players on the team and many others involved in this initiative.

FIFA, the governing body of football, has praised BFF’s initiative. The governing body of world football posted a picture of BFF distributing food among the distressed people on social media on its Twitter account, saying, “The helpless people of Bangladesh are struggling for food. Admirably BFF is giving them lunch. It is worth to be mentioned that Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) provided ‘one-day meal’ to helpless people since March 27.
