16 more deaths in Rajshahi Medical’s COVID unit

As many as 16 more deaths have been registered at the COVID unit of Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital (RMCH) in the last 24 hours till Saturday morning. Among the deaths, eight tested positive for Covid-19 and the rest displayed symptoms consistent with the disease.

RMCH director Brigadier General Shamim Yazdani confirmed the information this morning (July 17, 2021). From 8:00 am on Friday to 8:00 am on Saturday, the people – 14 men and two women – died in different wards of RMCH. Of them, nine were from Rajshahi, two from Chapanawabganj, one each Natore and Kushtia, and three from Pabna, he said.

Meanwhile, 66 people have been admitted to RMCH in the last 24 hours while 84 others returned home after recovery. With the new patients, a total of 527 patients are now undergoing treatment in the 454-bed corona unit of the Hospital as of this morning. In the last 24 hours, 150 covid patients have been detected after testing 470 samples in two labs of Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital.
