Probe committee to investigate ‘religiously insensitive’ question in HSC exam

Jashore Education Board has formed a 3-member probe committee to investigate the allegations of ‘religiously insensitive’ issue in the Bengali First Paper Higher Secondary Examination question. The committee has been asked to submit the report within the next seven working days. Jashore Education Board Chairman Professor Dr. Md. Ahsan Habib confirmed the formation of the probe committee on Tuesday. Earlier, the Dhaka Education Board published the list of accused teachers in the morning.
He said, a three-member committee has been formed to investigate the issue of communal incitement on religious sensitive topics in the question paper with Jashore Education Board’s college inspector KM Rabbani as convener. Meanwhile, the Dhaka Education Board has revealed the names and identities of the teachers accused of communally ‘provocative’ questions in the HSC Bangla First Paper examination. The list was published in a notification from the board on Tuesday.
According to the notification, the anti-communal question paper of Bangla Prothompatra was prepared by the Jashore Education Board. The questioner involved in communal incitement in the question paper is Assistant Professor Prashant Kumar Pal of Maheshpur Degree College in Jhenaidah. Syed Tajuddin Shaon, Associate Professor of Government Victoria College in Narail, Md. Shofiqur Rahman, Associate Professor of Satkhira Government Women’s College, Shyamal Kumar Ghosh, assistant professor of Mirzapur United College in Narail and Rezaul Karim, assistant professor of Bheramara Adarsh College in Kushtia were in charge of correcting the question paper.
Dhaka Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board Chairman Tapan Kumar Sarkar said that the matter is being investigated. After the investigation, action will be taken against the accused according to the law.
